New Order WAVE
Power, Corruption & Lies
1983 | 2023
WAVE is collaborating with New Order, one of the most iconic bands from the 80s.
A capsule collection will go on release to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their album released in 1983, Power, Corruption & Lies.
WAVE has produced official collaboration items to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the release of the classic album "Power, Corruption & Lies" by New Order, a band that represents the 80s.
New Order was formed by the three remaining members of Joy Division after the death of Ian Curtis, the lead singer of Joy Division.
Around the time of the opening of Hacienda, a club they created with their label Factory Records, they introduced a new aesthetic to the music scene with a sound approach that was more club-floor-oriented, drawing on the synth pop and techno trends that used electronic sounds, which changed the direction of their music from that of their predecessor, Joy Division, and led subsequent dance music movements such as Madchester and the Second Summer of Love.
This collaboration was produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the release of their masterpiece second album, "Power, Corruption & Lies," released in 1983, which is said to be their masterpiece and the album that established their unique sound.
The jacket design is based on the beautiful artwork by Peter Saville, a master graphic designer who is indispensable to the story of Factory Records, the label to which New Order was signed, which combines Henri Fantin-Latour's work ``A Basket of Roses'' with color codes and floppy disks. An original logo combining the names of both New Order and WAVE, overseen by Peter Saville and the band, was developed for this collaboration.
A total of seven items will be released, including T-shirts.
